Solar

Transitioning to clean energy is an essential part of building more sustainable communities. SGA supports a range of solar projects, from on-site renewables to reduced rate community solar. With a focus on equity and making clean energy accessible, SGA is working to shape a greener future for all.

Clean Power for Greener Communities

SGA’s solar program focuses on building sustainable communities by driving the clean energy transition across multiple key sectors. Whether it’s bringing reduced-rate solar to residents through community solar programs, or driving onsite installations, SGA helps significantly reduce a community’s greenhouse gas emissions by harnessing clean power.

Energy Equity

Powering a Greener Future for All

SGA is committed to ensuring clean energy benefits all residents and all communities, not just those with the means to afford it. We help municipalities launch reduced-rate community solar programs to help low to moderate income residents save money on electric bills, and we work with partners to support local workforce training in the solar industry. This work also positively impacts the health of residents through cleaner air from reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Onsite Solar

Building Solar into Our Communities

SGA works with municipalities, public institutions, and solar companies, to identify opportunities and steps to drive onsite solar installations in a community. By bringing solar directly to a rooftop or other site, we help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of some of the biggest and most energy-intensive buildings in a community.

Solutions that Support Grid-Scale Solar

For many buildings, onsite solar panels are not an option. SGA’s solar program helps communities procure solar energy from grid-scale projects through community solar programs. These programs allow residents, businesses, and institutions to get their energy from local solar arrays, supporting the development of those solar projects while reducing their greenhouse gas emissions and saving money.

“Our school district is just getting started on our sustainability journey, and we have already benefited greatly from the guidance of Seven Generations Ahead through the PlanItGreen Initiative. SGA’s leadership insights, especially around GHG reduction and solar energy, will be key as we implement our new sustainability policy.”
