Internship Application

SGA’s work spans a broad range of sustainability topics, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, transportation, healthy community development, waste reduction, green business, local sustainability and sustainability education. Through this internship, you will have the chance to deepen your understanding and actively participate in real-world projects that are shaping a healthier and more sustainable future. You will gain invaluable experience through strategic collaboration, networking, skill-building and career development opportunities.

Our internships offer a blend of independent and collaborative work, as we host multiple interns at the same time. We offer flexible internships, allowing students to specialize in particular areas or gain a broad understanding of our various projects.

Interns will dedicate 15-20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule agreed upon by SGA staff. A stipend of $250 will be provided at the conclusion of the internship contract. This internship will be mainly remote with opportunities for in person events and meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on a variety of sustainability topics relevant to SGA’s program areas, including but not limited to local food systems, waste reduction, renewable energy, and community engagement.
  • Communication and Outreach: Assist in the development of outreach materials, including social media content, website updates, blog posts, and presentations.
  • Event Support: Provide support for SGA events, workshops, and webinars, which may include logistics, registration, and material preparation.
  • Data Management: Assist with data entry, organization, and analysis related to program activities.
  • Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing email communications, and organizing files.
  • Project Support: Assist program staff with specific project tasks as needed, which may vary depending on current initiatives. This could include tasks related to school food programs, composting initiatives, or community solar projects.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other interns and SGA staff members on various projects.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, written, organization and time management skills required.
  • Familiarity with Zoom and Google Meet is required.
  • A demonstrated dedication to protecting the environment and a willingness to try new tasks and outreach opportunities.
  • Basic understanding and interest in one or more topic area: waste reduction, local food systems, solar, policy implementation, etc.
  • Familiarity with the Google Workspace platform (Gmail, Meet, Docs, Sheets, Presentations, Calendar) is required.
  • Familiarity with social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with WordPress is a plus.
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva Pro) are a plus.
  • Reliable personal transportation and flexible availability are preferred.
