Hear from two experienced food service professionals about sourcing local and minimizing waste in food service. Allison Brown, District Manager for OrganicLife, will share how she first develops recipes that utilize local foods and then uses Harvest of the Month resources to promote these menu items and encourage participation. Kate Mason Schultz, Coordinator of Nutrition Services for Evanston/Skokie School District 65, will discuss how her district has successfully implemented Offer vs. Serve and share tables across the district to minimize food waste and recover food to feed hungry students.
SGA’s Farm to School and Zero Waste Schools experts will also provide resources and tips for you to start these initiatives in your own district!
Food service professionals, school administrators, lunchroom staff, and anyone interested in sourcing local while generating less waste are encouraged to attend.
