Healthy Community Networks, Planning and Implementation
SGA convenes stakeholders, builds networks, and supports exiting partnerships and networks to achieve healthy community goals related to obesity prevention – including healthy eating, active transportation, and physical activity. SGA's strong partnership convening and facilitation skills, strategy expertise and track record, partnership event and learning forum production, and community report card experience combine to support local community and regional healthy community initiatives.

Pioneering Healthy Communities (PHC) – Local, State, and Regional
Oak Park, Illinois - Pioneering Healthy Communities is a national Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and YMCA initiative to create community-wide plans to reverse the obesity epidemic across the nation. SGA facilitates the Oak Park, IL PHC "Wild About Wellness" initiative, and is a founding member. The Wild About Wellness team has developed six core objectives and strategies, and is currently implementing policy, systems, and built environment changes that will increase physical activity and healthy eating in the community. The team consists of the CEOs of the two major hospitals, the Presidents of the Village of Oak Park and Dominican University, the Superintendents of the two school districts, the YMCA, and selected community organizations.
State of Illinois – SGA is a member of the State of Illinois YMCA-led Healthy Communities Consortium that supports 10 local healthy community initiatives across the state of Illinois. SGA is a co-chair of the Healthy Communities Indicators Committee that is charged with developing success indicators and report models for local healthy community projects.
Toledo/Lucas County, Ohio Live Well
As part of the GreenTown 2012 event in Toledo, OH, SGA worked with Live Well – a statewide coalition of organizations working to increase healthy eating and physical activity toward the goal of reversing the obesity trend – to design and implement a stakeholder education and planning forum with national transportation, urban planning, and bikable and walkable community expert Mark Fenton. SGA partners regionally with local and regional healthy community initiatives to support planning, learning forums, walk audits, and PHC strategy implementation.
